Welcome to my website

My watercolours feature plant and flower studies, buildings and still life. Most of my botanical subjects are local, from Whitfield, which is situated in the West Allen Valley, South West Northumberland.

On my travels I have painted watercolours of Italian Cathedrals, sculptures, a Burmese teak Monastery in Myanmar, and Mediterranean plants in Italian gardens.

I have completed commissions of houses in Northumberland, Norfolk, France, Sussex and Cumbria and recently some wild life paintings.

From the first spring bulbs and the green leaves on an early perennial to the blue of an early summer on an eryngium, the plants surrounding me offer a huge variety of colours and textures.

From time to time I also paint in oil, pencil, crayon and ink but my favourite drawing tool is the pencil. I enjoy drawing botanical subjects, particularly the hard lines of spring bulbs and some early summer perennials. The later the season the more I turn to colour and by the time autumn is here I use watercolour for everything.

  • About Me

I paint in an area of outstanding natural beauty, in South west Northumberland, surrounded by a huge variety of plants and trees. Most of my images are taken from the area around me. I do paint when I travel and keep sketch books reminding me of happy times in far away places.
